Owner / Consultant

Brandan Nelsen is the founder of Colorado Safety and Compliance and a Colorado native, born and raised in the state he now serves. From a young age, Brandan was immersed in the construction industry, spending time on job sites alongside his father and learning firsthand the importance of precision, accountability, and jobsite safety. Those early experiences shaped his understanding of how critical proper planning, training, and compliance are to protecting workers and keeping projects moving forward.

As a teenager, Brandan helped build sandwich shops from the ground up, gaining hands-on experience in commercial construction environments, coordination between trades, and the realities of working on active job sites. He later worked in the very sandwich shops he helped build, developing a firsthand understanding of daily operations, food safety, and team leadership. This path eventually led him into Denver’s culinary scene, where he worked as a chef and deepened his appreciation for operational discipline, training, and compliance in fast-paced hospitality environments.

With years of hands-on exposure across both construction and hospitality, Brandan developed a strong foundation in OSHA standards, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation. He understands the real-world challenges Colorado contractors and hospitality operators face in balancing productivity with compliance and brings a practical, field-tested approach to every client relationship.

Colorado Safety and Compliance was founded to help businesses strengthen their safety programs, reduce liability, and create workplaces where employees go home safely every day. Brandan’s mission is simple: provide clear, effective safety solutions that protect teams, support operations, and stand up to regulatory scrutiny.

OSHA Consultant

Austyn grew up in Naples, Florida, and began his professional journey in the architectural industry. While he valued the creativity and precision that design demanded, he soon realized that spending his days behind a computer and not seeing his projects come to life left him unfulfilled. At 28, Austyn made the bold decision to pursue a career that truly aligned with his passions.

As he explored opportunities across the hospitality and construction industries, Austyn gained firsthand experience in how safety, efficiency, and leadership shape successful operations. Over the years, he witnessed numerous workplace accidents—many of which could have been prevented through stronger safety practices and compliance. These experiences sparked a deep commitment to creating safer, more efficient work environments where people and productivity could thrive.

Drawing on his creativity, technical knowledge, and growing dedication to safety, Austyn went on to establish and operate his own landscape lighting company in Colorado. Under his leadership, the company became known for its innovative designs, meticulous craftsmanship, and uncompromising focus on safety and compliance. His approach not only elevated the quality of each project but also helped prevent costly incidents—saving both lives and resources through proactive, well-planned operations.

Today, Austyn continues to apply the lessons learned throughout his diverse career, combining his design background, safety expertise, and leadership experience to build environments and teams that prioritize excellence, efficiency, and above all, safety.
